Had a tough time with Colombia's pace on the counter, as well as the industry of Pablo Armero flying forward on his flank. Defended well, however, although could not get as forward as often as usual.
Xabi Alonso 6.0
Colombia's narrow, compact tactics strangled his passing ability, and often his through balls were cut out or blocked at source. A frustrating night, and was eventually replaced.
Álvaro Arbeloa Coca 5.0
Came on for Capdevila and looked more secure than the Villarreal man, but still allowed Colombian attackers to get on his blind side in the latter stages.

Scored a true poacher's effort to level the game and looked dangerous every time he surged forward. A couple of excellent passes deserved more.
