Madrid are on the brink of finally striking an agreement to sign Brazilian starlet Robinho next summer.
Robinho is one of the most coveted young footballers in the world game, with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven and Benfica on his trail.
But a switch to Spanish superpowers Real now looks the most likely option following a meeting between the club's president Florentino Perez and Robinho's representatives.
Previous reports have suggested Real are prepared to stump up $20 million to Robinho's club Santos to entice the striker to Europe.
According to Juan Figger, who is brokering the deal, an agreement has almost been reached for Real to bring Robinho to El Santiago Bernabeu next season.
"Real Madrid want to reach an agreement to have a preferential option to buy Robinho next June," Figger told Marca.
"An agreement is very close but we just have to finalise the last few details."
Wagner Ribeiro, who is Robinho's agent, admits the Brazil international could not refuse the opportunity of joining Real.
"What player in the world does not want to be at Real Madrid? None," commented Ribeiro.
"They do not doubt that Robinho can play for Real Madrid."
Ribeiro also revealed that Robinho is chasing a swift resolution to his future, following the kidnapping of his mother in Brazil.
The agent admits the youngster is anxious to leave his homeland to escape the problems in Brazil.
He added: "He's having a very difficult time at the moment.
"It would affect anyone if their mother was kidnapped but he is especially close to her and it has hit him very hard.
"He has asked me to stay here (in Spain) to agree his move to Real Madrid before returning to Brazil.
"He wants to settle his professional future because he wants to live a normal, quiet life and the only way to do that is to leave Brazil."
