Real Madrid have made Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard their top transfer target for 2005, according to reports in Spain.
"Gerrard is the target for Real," stated Spanish sports daily AS.
The Madrid giants spent most of summer 2004 trying to entice Arsenal’s Patrick Vieira from Highbury to the Bernabeu, but the France captain opted to stay with the Premiership champions.
AS also said that talks to sign striker Francesco Totti had already started with his Italian club Roma.
After Euro 2004, Gerrard admitted he was ready to leave Liverpool before new manager Rafael Benitez persuaded him to stay.
Gerrard had appeared close to joining Chelsea, but decided to stay at Anfield.
"Everyone linked me with Chelsea and assumed that was where I was going but, to be honest, there were three or four good clubs knocking on my agent’s door," said Gerrard.
Ei jumalauta!

Eiköhän tuo kerro kaiken mitä mieltä minä tästä olen edes ajatuksena!
