Vanderlei Luxemburgo, the Real Madrid coach, will be sacked tonight, according to reports in Spain on Sunday. The sports daily AS revealed on it's website that vice-president Emilio Butragueno and sporting director Arrigo Sacchi have reached a decision to terminate the Brazilian's contract.
According to AS, a meeting was held from on Sunday morning, where the directors agreed that the best way forward for the club was to end Luxemburgo's contract.
Until Real find a coach to see the club through the rest of the season, the responsibility of taking care of the team will be given to Lopez Caro.
Luxemburgo's dismissal will come after a turbulent season, which started in the worst possible way, with early defeats to Celta and Espanyol in La Liga and a heavy 3-0 reverse in the Champions League at Lyon giving cause for thought for both fans and directors of the club.
The coach earned himself a stay of execution after his side pulled off a string of impressive victories in October, but it now seems the powers-that-be have finally lost patience, the last straw proving to be an awful performance against Getafe on Saturday.
Real currently occupy fourth place in La Liga.
